Thinking about purchasing a new garage door? There’s a term you are going to hear that you might not be familiar with. It’s “R-Value”.
What is the R-Value?
R–Value is a measure of thermal resistance used in the building and construction industry. Specifically, R–Value is thermal resistance to heat flow.
Why Does It Matter?
If you don’t use your garage often and it is detached from your home, it doesn’t really matter at all. However, if your garage is attached to your home and has any rooms above or around it, you will want to eliminate the heat escaping through the garage door. Saving the heat or A/C = saving money!
What Else Should I Know?
You should also be aware of how the door is manufactured. There are several variables to look at, but you should certainly consider the type of insulation, the quality of the parts used (Precision Garage Door uses high quality upgraded parts – we throw the factory hardware away!), the warranty provided and the ability of the company you purchase it from to handle your warranty calls tomorrow, next week, next year and 20 years from now. You want a high quality product to come from a company that exceeds expectations.
