Ready for winter?
With autumn upon us, it is time for us to prepare our homes for winter. We wanted to provide you with some helpful information to get you started.
- Heating System – It is time to make certain that your heating system will be running smoothly and efficiently this time of year. Take a few minutes to call your HVAC expert and schedule an inspection. That should prepare the system and alert you to any potential issues.
- Ceiling Fans – You may not realize it, but it is time to reverse your ceiling fans! When the heat is running, the fan blades should turn in a clockwise direction. This will create an updraft and push down the heated air in the room. One of those small tricks we often don’t consider!
- Mowing your lawn – Not something we really think about when preparing for winter. If you remove the bag from your lawnmower and give your lawn that one last mow while all of the leaves are on the ground, they will fall into the blades of grass, providing nourishment for your lawn throughout the winter as they decompose. Who knew?
- Call a chimney sweep – Do you have a chimney? Now is the time to get it cleaned & checked over. We all want to be ready for that first comforting fire…and avoid the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning or a fire breakout.
And last, but most certainly not least… Now is the time to have your garage door checked over. Call a garage door expert to have them lubricate your door, perform a full inspection of the door and opener, and ensure that your door is working smoothly & efficiently all season long.
